WIPO: AI Deepfake Ethics
Welcome to the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) committee on the ethics and implications of artificial intelligence, celebrity deepfakes, and creative artificial intelligence (AI) technologies! As AI rapidly transforms art, music, media, and identity, new questions arise around legality, consent, intellectual property, and ethical responsibility. Deepfakes and AI-generated content challenge traditional laws and social norms, impacting celebrities, creators, corporations, and society at large. In this committee, you will work together to draft a thoughtful and balanced resolution addressing the regulation, protection, and ethical use of AI in creative and public spaces.

Greetings, delegates! My name is Aanya Contractor, and I am honored to be your chair for this committee. I have been passionate about Model United Nations since the start of my freshman year at Marriotts Ridge, and have made many new connections through conferences like NAIMUN, UMDMUNC, and our very own RIDGEMUNC. I’m so excited to guide you through this fascinating topic, where AI, technology, creativity, and ethics intersect!

Welcome, delegates! My name is Esther Woo, and I am thrilled to be your co-chair for RIDGEMUNC IV. I began my Model United Nations journey in my freshman year at Marriotts Ridge, when I was too nervous to speak even once during committee sessions. Since then, it has grown into one of my greatest passions. Over the past two years, I’ve had the privilege of participating in and staffing conferences such as RIDGEMUNC, UMDMUNC, and CHSMUNC. Each conference has been both exciting and rewarding, and I hope to make this one just as engaging for you. I am excited to be your co-chair and look forward to seeing what you bring to this committee!
