Global Refugee Crisis
Welcome to the Social, Cultural, and Humanitarian Committee General Assembly on the global refugee crisis. In the face of escalating conflict, political instability, and climate change, the global refugee crisis has become one of the most urgent humanitarian challenges of our time. This committee will dive into the complex issues surrounding displaced populations by examining the social, economic, and political factors that influence the global climate for refugee populations. We encourage delegates to collaborate to explore innovative solutions for refugee resettlement, international cooperation, and protection of human rights, emphasizing sustainable development and global security to build a framework for lasting change.

Chair
Hello, I’m Avani! I’m a Junior at Marriotts Ridge, and have been in MUN since my freshman year. I love Model UN, and every conference I’ve attended, from local to international, has a special place in my heart. I hope RidgeMUNC has a place in yours! It is my pleasure to chair the SOCHUM committee here at RidgeMUNC, and I hope to see our delegates create formative experiences like my own. Our crisis topic is pertinent and immersive, and encourages creative thinking and strategic collaboration. It truly is a great fit for delegates of all experience levels!
Co-Chair
Hello delegates! I’m Prajith Balaji, your co-chair for this committee, and I’m thrilled to be a part of this experience with you! As a senior at Marriotts Ridge and a Model UN participant since my freshman year, I’ve had the opportunity to attend numerous regional and international conferences, and along the way, I’ve not only improved in public speaking and debating, but also created unforgettable memories. Whether you’re a new delegate or veteran delegate, I hope to help make this committee just as memorable for you. I look forward to seeing your energy and ideas in action during committee!
